Management is currently seeking a


Postdoctoral Research Associate

(Reference code: 151)

Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of October 2023, limited for 6 years

Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 18

Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14
times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.351,90

Responsibilities

Independent research with focus on modelling water flow and transport in soil and sediments
Research with synergies to the existing expertise at the institute
Teaching duties with courses in numerical modelling of water and mass fluxes as well as

general modelling courses in rural water management
Development of own research ideas, acquire external funding and coordinate projects
Publication and presentation of scientific results
Supervision and mentoring of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students
Participation in the institute’s administrative tasks
Academic qualification (habilitation) and establishment of a own research field should be

pursued

Required skills and qualifications

Doctoral degree/PhD and excellent Master’s degree in geosciences, environmental sciences,
environmental engineering, rural water management or similar disciplines

Experience in the application and development of numerical models
Strong publication record
Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
High motivation for working independently and for working in an interdisciplinary research and

teaching environment

Desirable skills and qualifications

Teaching experience
Successful application of external funding projects
Involvement in the scientific community
Experience with geographic information systems, statics or time series analysis
Interest in field and laboratory experiments
German language skills beneficial
Driver’s license (B)
